Run, Ride, & Paddle Through The Buchanan Tri

The Buchanan Tri will include a 2-mile road run, a 13-mile road bike, and a 5-mile kayak. A total of 20 miles of fun!

Team option #1: The Relay — Three members, any gender or age combination you want. One person does each stage. Register as a relay team with a team name.

Team option #2: The Friends — Two members, each register individually. Each member runs and rides separately, but the friends may paddle together in a tandem kayak or canoe. Finishing time is recorded for each team member.

Event Info

  • When: September 17, 2016
  • Where: Start at 2:00pm at the Buchanan Town Park
  • Individuals: $55 (before 8/31/2016), $70 afterwards
  • Relay Teams: $35 per person (before 8/31/2016), $45 afterwards

Start

Buchanan Town Park, 2 p.m. We will transport your boat from the Town Park to the kayak transition at Springwood, so no pre-staging worries for you.

Stage 1: 2 Mile Run

The run will start and finish on Lowe Stree, neat the Buchanan Town Park.

  • Proceed west on Lowe St, cross Rt. 11, go through tunnel on 19th St.
  • Left on Spotswood Ave
  • Left on 16th St.
  • Right on Boyd St.
  • Left on Bridge St.
  • Left on Parkway Dr.
  • Cross Rt. 11 to Lowe St, back to bike transition at Town Park

Stage 2: 13 Mile Bike

Approximately 13 miles through rolling, country roads, ending at the Springwood boat landing, upstream from Buchanan.

Stage 3: 5 Mile Paddle

Approximately 5 miles down the James River from the Springwood Boat Landing to the Buchanan Boat Landing next to Twin River Outfitter. It’s a beautiful, easy paddle — unless you are racing!

Finish

Buchanan Tri LogoBuchanan Town Park where the Pork on the James BBQ Competition & Festival will be in full swing with music and food. A post-race spaghetti meal is included for race participants!
