October is “Virginia Wine Month”, a month-long celebration of local wine with special events, tastings, festivals and more. The Virginia wine industry has grown tremendously, now ranking 5th in the nation for wine production, including more than 200 wineries and dozens of wine trails. The closest wine trail can be found right here in Botetourt County.

The Wine Trail of Botetourt County features three charming, family-run vineyards that place a special emphasis on quality wines made with old-world techniques. You’ll find a wine to please every palate, from a light and sweet white to a full-bodied red.

Fincastle Vineyard and Winery produces fine wines from the old world vinifera grapes including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay.
